[lug] Help installing debian at the install fest?

Debian Sarge is ancient, but not ancient. :) I'm running 2.6.8 on it.
It also supports 2.4.27. If you boot a debian-sarge install cd, I think
the default might be for kernel 2.4, but at the lilo prompt type
kernel26 or something like that (there is text giving instructions) and
you'll get the 2.6 version. If that borks, you might want to try 2.4.
Then after the install, you can upgrade to a 2.6 kernel image and see if
that works (apt-get install kernel-image-2.6.8...).

As for all the questions when installing debian..... it might depend on
your hardware, but I've installed debian successfully by hitting "enter"
in response to every question except time-zone and root password. When
it doubt, just hit enter... it seems to work. Or go to an InstallFest...
I'm sure someone there can explain the questions for you.

Good Luck,

Ben
