[lug] video card recommandation for 1680x1050?

In the Linux world these are the drivers by their Xorg.conf names:
"nv" is the 2D open source driver, barely better than VESA.
"nvidia" is NVIDIA's official binary driver.
"nouveau" is the new, not very stable, reverse engineered driver.
I run 64-bit Gentoo. I'm using the 1.3.0 Xorg server with the 2.1.2 nv
driver.
