Ticketing systems also are the masters of "unintentional side-effects"
in both management and technical roles, but especially in management
planning and long-range corporate goals.
(The ticket system regularly becomes the business "driver" of metrics,
instead of the humans supposedly thinking about the company goals and
values.)
Their use as possible future planning tools, and the typical manger's
propensity to "enjoy" the supposedly "hard numbers" that come from them,
as a key driver in the organization's long-range planning -- should be
carefully evaluated before deployment.
The more crap the ticketing system can track for your management team,
the more crap they have to sift through -- would be the layman's way of
putting it.
