Dear Steve,

     I don't have an answer for you, but I hope it is okay for me to write to you because I am a guy with the same problem. I raised this subject at the CLUE meeting and no one needed to know the answer, because it isn't a common task among Linux people. I just use Nero with Windows XP. I wanted to make my own DVD movies from video from the web, and create chapter menus. The program came with my DVD drive. I don't know if that program will resize AVI files. Do you try to do all your computing tasks with Linux or do you use Windows also? Maybe, you can find a Microsoft program that will run well under WINE.
