*SOFTWARE ENGINEER, EMBEDDED LINUX DEVICE DRIVERS* *Contract Position* *Start
Date: April 2008* *Estimated Duration: 4-6 Months*
*PROJECT SCOPE:*
Contributing team member of a development team involved in the design of a
telecom real-time embedded access system running on a Linux platform.
*JOB DESCRIPTION:*
*Software Design/Code/Test/Integrate:*
- Design hardware driver for a Power-PC real-time application running
on Linux
- Create detailed design documents
- Work with other team members to ensure integration with their
components and to achieve code and documentation consistency across all
components
- Code design in C based upon project design rules
- Participate in code reviews of own components and those of others
- Create unit test plan for your components
- Develop unit test cases, participate in code reviews of unit test
- Ensure components pass all unit tests
- Assist in integration and software build process
*System Test:*
· Assist system test engineers in debugging problems found during
system test
* *
*REQUIREMENTS:*
*Education*
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
*Experience*
- Strong C language development
- Linux device driver development
- Hardware device driver development, e.g., T1 framers, SPI
transceivers, etc.
- Blocking and non-blocking I/O between user-space and kernel
- Synchronization techniques, including spin-lock and mutex
- Debugfs
- Driver code contributor to Linux community (desired)
- Real-time applications in an RTOS environment (desired)
- Software design for embedded equipment (desired)
- Developing software/firmware for Power-PC (desired)
- Familiarity with svn and git (desired)
*Skills & Attributes*
- Ability to work effectively in a small team of engineers
· Ability to react quickly and adapt to changes in priorities,
circumstances, and direction
· Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with
colleagues
· Ability to communicate effectively with others, including
proficiency in written and verbal communications, and strong listening
