i don't use the ubuntu flavor of linux.

can you say more about the LTS version especially in competition with
something like CentOS.

is LTS an attempt to try and provide a stable server alternative to
CentOS's 7 yr (i think) support cycle for each release?  does LTS even
have an extended support cycle for each major release and if so how long
is it?  in your experience, is it rock solid for a production environment?

also is LTS possibly more "up to date" than say a CentOS would be?
obviously, CentOS doesn't want or try to be on the bleeding edge because
it destabilizes the platform.  they choose to be a version or two behind
latest greatest.  i don't want bleeding edge on a server either but
wondering if something like an LTS might be just a smidge further along on
the backports from newer more current versions?
