Why not? Is the code your own creation? If yes, you have the rights to
distribute it on whatever license you like, notwithstanding the fact
that they "teach" you how to write the code you wrote.
If you use part of their source code, though, or if you linked it (it
is not clear to me) then it's another story, see

Since hw is involved, I'd strongly suggest GPLv3 and *not* v2.
