[lug] access to audio from non-desktop login

At work I have a secondary userid I've set up that can open windows on
the desktop for my primary userid. I open a Firefox browser from that
user that is configured to use a local proxy that is tunneled through to
my home. From that browser I can access my web servers at home via the
tunnel. In this way I have two browsers running - one that uses a proxy
(for secondary userid) and one that doesn't (for primary userid).

However, the secondary userid browser is not run from the desktop userid
so it can't play audio. Is there a way to enable a non-desktop login to
access the audio at the same time as the desktop login under Fedora 9?
If I can enable audio then I can access my music and video collections
at home via mythweb.

FYI - I know streaming through the tunnel works since I can access the
collections in my primary userid browser if I change it to use the
proxy. So the only problem is enabling audio for the secondary userid
so I don't have to switch proxy configurations repeatedly.
