Basic Electricity and Electronics:
Transistors work on smoke. When the smoke gets out they don't work anymore.
Actually, way back in the day, I put a Seagate ST-225 in my Radio Shack PC
compatible and for some reason, I guess RF interference, the thing would not
work unless the cover (plastic) was on.
