I know nothing about the hinges, but I've heard nothing but good
reports about Acer laptops in recent times. Acer is a prime example of
"Bad reputation either leads to a disappearing vendor,or better
quality." Their reputation used to be not so good, but they've made
credible improvements in the last few years.
