[lug] KDE monitor power control

Hi,

Whenever I leave my machine for a few minutes the monitor
powers off.  When I try
  configure desktop -> display -> power control
it shows display power management is already enabled at 120 minutes.
I'm running KDE on Debian 2.6.26.

When I disable and re-enable power management it really
honors the 120 minutes ... until the next boot.
Then it's back to 5 minutes, even though the gui still 
claims 120 minutes.  How can I get the power management
setting to last across boots?
