True panic is almost always a "stuff foot to floor" response. 

I had to warn the family member I recently handed the keys to my 2000 Jeep Cherokee Classic to... that it had no anti-lock brake system... 

"Do not just stuff your foot to the floor in slick conditions... please... you'll end up very dead..."

Hopefully they remember, come winter...
