I'll mention  it to them, but I doubt they'll be interested. And they
usually use large, professional equipment to record talks, so they
might not help.

Another option would be to just bring your digital camera and leave it
on the table (or small tripod). Most digital cameras (at the lowest
bitrate settings, otherwise the memory be will quickly exhausted) are
more than adequate for this purpose. I can offer hosting space to put
it online (although it is on a slow, oversea server), if the problem
is the 15min limit on youtube.

I know! Are you trying to let me feel guilty? It is a business travel.
If I had choice, I'd have picked the BLUG talk, that's why I'm begging
for somebody to record it.
