Here's a solution for your original problem specs:

Purpose: show the
>>>>> kids some cartoons on a larger screen.

Bococo has random recycled PCs for $40, they give away CRT terminals when they get them. So you could set kids up with their own machine for downloading, storing and playing.  They have old TV cards of different kinds cheap, if an extra CRT is too much.

Kids like Dr. Who?  Or British Museum Natural History programs?  I've got a stash, and more being couriered from London after the Holidays.
