Do you mean a regular USB keyboard? I thought you needed a bluetooth
one. Anyway, if it does accept a normal keyboard, I'm 99% sure the
charger won't damage it (not sure if it would damage the hub or if the
phone would charge correctly, though).

The micro USB port on the Droid X (and probably several others)
works with a regular USB keyboard...but you have to make an
adapter:

My thought was to put a hub on a dock so that when I dock any
real USB keyboard would work.
