[lug] Install 'Linux' on a used (i.e. refurb/cheap) Pentium computer: need help/advice

cpu is Pentium 4 HT. I haven't found any clear cut claim that this is 
ia64, but there is a lot of stuff that to me, is greek or maderin. I'm 
downloading an ia64 image/
