[lug] Linux for New User (Desktop OS)

I was just wondering which Linux you all would recommend for a newbie user (read Windows convert)? 

I have narrow it down to one of the following....
1) Mint 16 (I know 17 just came out)

2) Ubuntu

3) openSUSE

4) Debian (or is this server mainly)

BTW these are not the order I am looking at but Mint is the one I am leaning towards
