It's gotten better (or I've gotten better). In the early days I remember 
having a server tank because one of the drives failed. I was not 
impressed. I guess my current heartache is having to run obscure, poorly 
documented commands to manage the array after a failure. 3ware provides 
a manager app that has a web interface that makes it kind of easy. When 
you're doing something as terrifying as saying yes, I want to remove 
this drive, it's nice to have training wheels.
