Used to build my own all the time. That was back before the kernel had
all the nifty auto-detect things in it for your CPU type and other mobo
features. I finally quit doing it when I switched from Fedora to Ubuntu.
Actually, though to some it might seem daunting, it really was easier
than doing an RSX-11M+ Sysgen, for example. Once I got the hang of it, it
became pretty routine, though there was the occassional glitch.
