D-bus is something I've never dealt with. I'd love to know what to look for where (a new toy!).
 
Something about being logged in to my own X11 session fails, while using sudo for self or another user allows kicad to work. Would that provide a good hint as to what part of d-bus config to look at or examine? FYI, this is Fedora 23 x86_64.
