The University of Colorado Denver l Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking
applications for a Linux Administrator. This full-time University
Staff (non-classified) position serves on the Computing Infrastructure
division at the Anschutz Campus. This position will be responsible
for troubleshooting and administering various Linux related
implementations supported by OIT. This includes, but is not limited
to: systems design and architecture, systems implementation,
maintenance, and documentation. In addition, this position will be
responsible for administering cloud-based deployments with various
cloud providers.
Examples of Work Performed
Administer RedHat Satellite server
Administer Oracle Spacewalk server
Deploy/maintain/troubleshoot virtual and physical Linux servers
(RedHat and Oracle Linux) in an on premise server hosting environment
Deploy/maintain/troubleshoot virtual Linux servers (RedHat and Oracle
Linux) in cloud compute server hosting environment, such as AWS,
Google, and Azure
Apply security patches on a monthly basis
Develop “as-built” documentation as well as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Implement system configurations based on industry best practices
Configure and maintain logging, monitoring, and alerting
Assist in maintaining various infrastructure components, such as
DNS/DHCP/IPAM (Infoblox)
Assist with administering centralized storage (SAN, DAS, NAS)
Develop and maintain configuration management solutions
Develop automation scripts for various tasks (bash, Perl, Java script)
Salary and Benefits:
Hiring salary for this position has been established as $48,521-
$80,000. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s
degree in Computer Sciences or a closely related field.
2 years of experience with Linux system administration
Substitution: Full time, professional-level work experience may be
substituted on a year-for-year basis for the bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
**Note: Experience can be gained simultaneously in one or multiple positions
2 years of hands on experience administering Linux servers in a large
environment on premise and in the cloud
2 years of experience with vmware server virtualization technologies
2 years of experience with centralized storage, SAN, DAS, NAS
2 years of experience working with cloud providers such as Google, AWS, Azure
2 years of experience with Cisco products, such as UCS platform and MDS switches
2 years of experience with Cisco automation products, such as UCS
Director and Cisco Prime Services Catalog
2 years of experience administering Infoblox implementation
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency with Linux/Unix Operating systems, RedHat and Oracle Linux
Understanding of basic networking
Ability to develop scripts in multiple languages (bash, Perl, Java script)
Solid understanding of DNS/DHCP/IPAM
Ability to provision servers utilizing kickstart or similar tools,
such as Puppet
Ability to provision and configure servers in the cloud
Understanding load balancer technologies. Creating and modifying
virtual IPs (VIPs), such as in f5 load balancers
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining services such as
Bind, Apache, MySQL, nginx, etc.
Proficient with network tools such as iptables, firewalld, Linux IPVS,
HAProxy, etc.
