That's a very interesting bit of information. I've talked to a couple
of people on the Linux Musicians forum who are kind of pushing the
Focusrite.

Well, a couple of things. I'm trying to use "Jamulus" (long story) and
a way to easily plug my guitar into a computer that's hooked up to
ethernet would help. Also my wife and I do some messing around (she
plays drums) going through a small mixer which then goes into the
microphone input of this one laptop, running something called
Rosegarden. I'd like to avoid being limited by the mixer and be able to
plug things in directly. There are also other complications (aren't
there always :-)

We've attempted to do a few things mixing audio we play with programmed
midi instruments. Nothing "soundcloud worthy" at least so far.

Interesting. I'll hang on to that link. I currently have no decent
voices. One piano that's "ok" but that's about it. I guess I plan to
worry about that if I ever record anything worth listening to.
