Anyways, the live-USB Xubuntu worked completely fine. My on-board sound,
and the Fulla-3 on USB, both working, with the Fulla-3 showing up and
disappearing on [un]plug.
Something happened when running Mint-update to get the new kernel, and it
also affected the previous kernel. The older one is 5.4.0-37. So, trying to
compare things such as loaded modules between the 2 kernels isn't going to
show me anything now.
I suppose I can try logging in as root - wild goose chase, but I suppose it
could be a permission problem.
