I believe I switched from FreeBSD to Linux sometime in the mid to late  
'90s when I realized how much work it was going to be to get the  
current Java distribution running on BSD. I was working on a big java  
project at the time and didn't want to have to "admin" two different  
OSs. And, I guess it kind of looked like that was the way the wind was  
blowing, although I wan't entirely happy about it.
