[lug] What steps are needed to switch from networked to stand alone on Redhat 6.0?

You probably would like the machine to be at runlevel 2. This is multi-usr
with no
networking. But, you would like to be at runlevel 5 for X.

Look at the directory /etc/rc.d/rc2.d. Notice that the majority of links
here are of the
"K******" variety, so those services aren't running. Looks like the only
things to
change would be (perhaps) S10network, S65dhcpd and S80sendmail.

If you want runlevel 5 without all the networking, make /etc/rc.d/rc5.d look
like
/etc/rd.d/rc2.d and maybe change the three links mentioned above.
