the punchline being, it is usually better for you and the net as a
whole to use NTP servers that are "close" network-wise, and not
overload the well-known top-level servers.  unless you really need the
accuracy, that is, and at that point you might want to start looking
at your own precision clock (i believe that even some basic GPS units
can be coerced into this role).
