[lug] attbi troubles

Well, I *think* what caused our problem initially was that we
still had a lease on the IP address, so the system didn't go out
looking. Since then (when my daughter was on) she got directed to do
the update.

My only remaining problem is gnome's requirement to resolve my
machine name before it will start up X. I guess I'm going to have to
add a script that will update my hosts file after eth0 comes up to
resolve that one.

This was never a problem with @Home because it effectively
used a static IP and resolved DNS references to the name they
assigned.

On the plus side, when I was online with tech support he was
helpful - perhaps not the most knowledgable, but very willing to help
and to look things up, etc.
