[lug] Two files with the same name in the same directory?

I was just doing some housecleaning and found something interesting.

WAY2FONKY$ ls -l .gnut_hosts*
-rw-r--r--    1 d-man    d-man      257828 Oct 16 18:21 .gnut_hosts
-rw-r--r--    1 d-man    d-man        1228 Oct 16 18:21 .gnut_hosts 
WAY2FONKY$

It would appear that they are two identically named files, but of
different sizes, in the same directory.  Anyone know how this could
have happened?
