That's because there is no index file in that dir, and auto-indexing is 
disabled.

You might be able to add sqwebmail to your list of indexes.

I've never used sqwebmail ('Cause SquirrelMail is where it is at.  Perl CGI, 
how late 20th century!) but I'd bet that they have some standard method for 
"indexing" it.  I'd check with them.  I'd say check the FAQ, /but they don't 
have one/!

What I am saying is that I think you are mixing two issues.  1. How to get 
sqwebmail to run with a URL that ends in a "/" and 2. How to configure 
virtual hosting.  You seem to have actually accomplished 2, so now 
indexifying the cgi binary is the trick.

You may not get points for being a super-fly Apache guru, but you could 
probably enable symbolic links on [document root]/ and "ln -s 
[cgi-bin]/sqwebmail [document root]/index.html

You might even go as far as to ask about this on the sqwebmail list, where 
they have undoubtedly solved this problem in the past and can offer more than 
idle speculation.
