Sorry!  After working in Windows for sooooo loooonnnnggg, I just tend to think 
of any "program" as an "exe" or "executable."  I should have said "binary".

Yeah, that's what I thought.  But then I though, Hmm, maybe those Sun people 
are doing something cool and unique!  Yeah, a stretch I know, but...

Nope, told you everything.  Unless there's something I'm doing without 
realizing it.  This *is* the Linux version of SO.  The installer has a ".bin" 
extension, and runs great (as root).  And, I was not aware of OpenOffice.  I 
will have to give that a try!
