[lug] RedHat 7.3 install problem to IBM laptop external bay

I am attempting to install RedHat 7.3 in a dual boot
IBM T30 laptop. I have Windows 2000 on the internal disk
and am trying to install Linux in the external 60 GB drive.

The T30 has a DVD/CD-R in it's internal bay and NO floppy.

Th external 60GB disk can be installed three ways: external bay
with USB, external bay with PCI card in a PCMCIA slot, or in
the bay in the docking station.

I have been able to boot the RedHat 7.3 CD in the laptop and install
on the 60GB with either the bay in the dock or with the PCI card to the
external bay. In both cases I used the latest bootpart to setup
Windows 2000 to dual boot. In both cases the boot failed with some
message that flashes by early to quickly to read.

I also tried, in a fit of insanity, an install using the external bay with
the PCI card where I put /boot on the internal disk and all the rest on the
60GB.
This boot showed grub and then failed with a message that it couldn't find
anything.

Any ideas?

Any help would be appreciated.

Jim
