[lug] SCO (aka Caldera) now suing all Linux users

I'm not suprised. Everything Ray Noorda has been involved in since he left
Novell has been strange.

There was buying DR-DOS so they could sue Microsoft.

There was starting Caldera, but then never making it go.

Buying SCO, which clearly was in trouble against Linux was strange.

Don't forget, he was involved in Novell's purchase of USL and creating
"UnixWare" which actually sold in a Red box.

I think the arguments made on Slashdot:

1) They haven't informed the community where the infringement is so that a
cure can be made.

and

2) SCO sold it's own Linux which GPLd the IP they are saying was
misappropriated. In essence, they approved of the publishing of the IP under
the GPL.

If they even attempt to bring a suit, without the 1st issue being addressed
they will be laughed out of the court room.

HI,

In case nothing else got excitement into your day yet then this
announcement will:

SCO Warns Linux Users of Legal Liability

SCO on Wednesday raised the stakes in its battle to prevent what it sees as
the illegal and
unauthorized use of its Unix technologies in the Linux operating system,
warning that legal
liability for the use of Linux could extend to commercial users.

No details yet on what exactly the patent and license violations are...
Caldera has withdrawn from UnitedLinux - and SuSE, the dominant UnitedLinux
company, has stated that they are re-evaluating their relationship with
Caldera. Their former partner is now suing them :(
