[lug] No space bar in MySQL prompt

Sorry for the late reply...I was on a camping trip.

The problem persists. Running "mysql> \C utf8" or "ascii" or "latin1"
does not help, all other keys seem to work fine, I have run
dpkg-reconfigure locales, my language is "US English", I am running in
Konsole (and have the same problem in xterm, which gives me an error
flash when I press the space bar), I have not modified my.cnf, I have
restarted, the hardware is standard Dell desktop which has worked in
MySQL in the past, the keyboard layout is "Generic 104-key PC", the
layout is "U.S. English", the keymap is "us", and I have swapped Caps
Lock and Ctrl but have made no other keyboard changes,

Yet, the MySQL CLI interprets a space bar press as an error. I don't
have any keyboard input problems in any other situations, and I use
this computer all day long.

Thanks for the replies,
Glenn
