Hard to do on Linux, of course, so the admin at the company looked for a
program that would always be running and came up with init.

I'm not sure what OS she tested on, but evidently it had the full path
(/sbin/init) and that's why it worked on Ubuntu.  When I noticed what
the problem was and talked with her, she just added a second rule to the
check to look for the plain init in the ps output and all is fine now.

(BTW: this is CentOS 5.3. The official RHEL5 that's running on the
company servers behaves the same way.)

So, as long as she fixed the problem once I told her what it was, I'm happy.
