What changed? People think configuration control is too much trouble 
for "just 3 servers". So compare the time you take to solve this... 

If it's bad connections you might see errors from ifconfig. Otherwise 
I'd use wireshark to figure out what else is going on while you log in.

One configuration issue that would do this is another service that 
collides with the SSH. Possibly in establishing a connection, the 
first to use a port/protocol would establish quickly, and anything 
trying to step on it would have issues. The one which originally 
connected quickly might slow down after that. Check ifconfig on 
all of the servers, look specifically at collisions, also check for: 
errors, dropped, overruns 

If there are any of these, which show up other than zero, you 
have a problem with either hardware or two services stepping 
on each other.
