Don't do this. In the worst case it will break your UEFI boot by writing 
an MBR boot code into the GPT that it doesn't understand. In the best 
case it will just overwrite the GRUB EFI loader which gets you nothing.

The GRUB loader uses scripts for most things and changing its binary is 
rarely necessary for anything.
