Usually under warranty they'll just replace the drive.  Even if they
repair it, there is not a great chance that the data on the platters is
going to be intact, as they are effectively going to remanufacture the
drive.

I posted off list and suggested that Andrew might have success with a data
recovery service, and I have seen some things that are darn near
miraculous, but it isn't cheap.
