[lug] cable modem and linux

Has anyone experienced hooking TCI cable modems up to a linux box?? 

TCI doesn't support it but will come out and install if I configure.

I'm using RedHat 6.1 and i386. I'm ordering Solaris8 right now thanks to
some suggestions from this list. Any thoughts on which would be better for
cable modem. I'd think Solaris would be quicker and more secure(able), but
that's the pay-for-what-you-get bias.
