HI,
Now that I have my ssh problems all cleaned up I am banging my head
against another problem:
I would like to set up a wireless modem (DART 300 from Sierra wireless)
with a linux PC via a serial port /dev/ttyS1. The modem automatically
signs on to the ISP and works fine in Windows. Yet no matter how I
twist and turn it I can't get it to work in Linux.
If I manually connect the modem (using minicom) I can successfully log
on to my ISP. Then when I try to bring up my ppp interface by issuing
the command:
/usr/sbin/pppd -d -detach /dev/ttyS1 19200 &
I get:

Connection terminated.
Receive serial link is not 8-bit clean:
Problem: all had bit 7 set to 0
If I specity my options file for ppp parameters then I get Exit2 without
any further explanation.
The modem is fixed at 19200 baud serial communication speed and hardware
flow control.
Any ideas anybody - what am I doing wrong or what am I missing?
Thanks,
Ferdinand
