It would appear that the device file that you need for your video card is not
available. fb0 is totally different than what I thought you said of fd0.
Sorry for the dyslexic slip up...

I am not sure that I can explain a frame buffer adequately, but it is related
to your video card and its cache. You need the proper device file so that you
get the proper video display on the screen/console. If you cannot find the 
device driver for the frame buffer then the video card you have may not
be supported. Just a guess...
