[lug] LILO timeout & single user HELP!!

Sorry I'm slow on answering this Shannon, but I believe on a LILO
timeout=0 machine you can always hold down the left SHIFT key to get a
LILO prompt if it's held during LILO starting up... I'm pretty sure I've
done that before...?  (Hmm... he says as he starts digging through the
man pages...)  

Sounds like Tom's RBT disk took care of you, and you were going to need
something like that anyway to work on the missing shadow file.

I'm curious -- user error on that shadow file?  If not -- have you
carefully checked the binaries on that machine for signs of a rootkit?
