It's been six months, but as I recall there is an "connection setup" (or 
similar) dialogue with an entry like "home" or "root" or "top" or something 
which defaults to "~/".  Just change that to "/".  It non-intuitively won't 
let you cd above that entry.  It looks like it should be a "starting dir" but 
it isn't.

What do you expect from a guy that programs in Delphi by choice?  :-D
