[lug] Initializing Sound Server on Boot

During the KDE load, I get a dialog box that says Error while initializing the sound driver: Device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such device) The sound server will continue, using the null output device.   AC97 onboard sound card by VIA Technologies.    Motherboard: Element
