If the file is there, /dev/dsp, then not being able to open means the
kernel does not support it, or else something else got in its way (most
likely lack of kernel support, but this includes uninitialized hardware
and not just missing kernel options). See what is in /var/log/messages
concerning it. Check your kernel options. Also, this is PCI hardware,
even though it is integrated...check that the bios is set to o/s NOT
plug-n-play aware, that way the bios does the initializing. If the
support is via a module, use lsmod and make sure the module is loaded.
