Here's the way I understand it.  Movie DVDs, those that show the little
DVD logo, are encrypted by something called CSS.  ( Not Cascading Style
Sheets. ) This encoding is only a little bit more complicated than
rot13.  (See http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/DeCSS/Gallery/ or check google
for DeCSS for links.)

IANAL but I believe the legality of distributing CSS decryption code is
still questionable in the US.  Nevertheless, the link I provided above
links to C and perl source.  Also there is a link to a nice FAQ.
