[lug] i830 graphics trouble

My sincere condolences.  I once spent the better part of a night trying
to deal with this.  There's a guy in Australia that got it figured out. 
We relented (rather my company did) and purchased an X server from Xi
Graphics for $70 or $80 and it has worked fine since then.  

It's not really a distribution dependent thing yet.  The fix came out
after RH 7.3 came out so I don't think most of the distributions would
have had a chance to incorporate the changes yet.

This is certainly one of those adventures that is interesting and useful
to teach you about kernel compiling, but it is a hassle over the long
term as you have to do this each time you upgrade your kernel.

We had purchased two of these laptops, one was kept and I sent the other
one back (the first user was using windows most of the time and I was
the second user).
