Your best bet will be to find some way to convert it to postscript, and then
use Ghostscript to convert it to a a TIFF. If you could script Star Office
to print, you would be there...

Does anyone have any pointers for writing a Linux web application that
accepts MS Excel and Word files from the web and converts them to TIFF so
they may be faxed?

I don't know if I want to use a product that lets me run MSExcel and MSWord
under linux and try to perform a screen capture, or use Sun StarOffice for
$30.

Where might I find the Linux function for capturing a bit map (pix map) of a
SunStar Office display?
