[lug] Digital cameras

Any special comments for or against brands and models of digital 
cameras? 

I'm going on the Perl Whirl (which will include my first visit to 
Hawaii) at the beginning of June, and I'd like to have a camera that 
can talk to my Linux laptop (a Dell Inspiron 4000 which came with 
RedHat 7.1 installed, currently running KRUD/RedHat 8).
