Hi,
My cutting-edge HP Laserjet III used to work, and still
works under WinXP, but no longer works after recent Debian
testing upgrades.
Dmesg reports:
parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778) [SPP,ECP,ECPEPP,ECPPS2]
parport0: detected irq 7; use procfs to enable
interrupt-driven operation.
parport_probe: failed
parport0: no IEEE-1284 device present.
It was configured with lprngtool, which still has the
settings but now reports:
Auto-detection found the following:
Parallel Port 0 (/dev/lp0, /dev/lpt0) : Not Found
Parallel Port 1 (/dev/lp1, /dev/lpt1) : Not Found
Parallel Port 2 (/dev/lp2, /dev/lpt2) : Not Found
You may disregard this message
if you are setting up a serial printer.
This auto-detection may not always work
on Sparc and Alpha architectures.
If no devices were detected, this could
indicate a hardware problem that justifies
further investigation.
Other info: since these upgrades I am also getting:
apt-extracttemplates: error while loading shared libraries:
libapt-pkg-libc6.2-3-2.so.3.2: cannot open shared object
file: No such file or directory
although dselect and apt-get still seem to be working. I'm
wondering if there are some lib version issues. I'm running
2.2.20.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been knocking
myself out over this.
Thanks,
Glenn
