I' guessing it's something else, unless Debian stable NFS is really
screwed up. We run really heavy duty NFS usage at work on RH6.2,
RH7.2, RHEL3, RHEL4 servers and desktops, and I've never seen a
shutdown fail due to NFS. Actually, I've almost never seen a shutdown
fail period.
